The COVID-19 Experience

ARTners had an art calling of our situation (3/20-10/20). We looked to some local artists to share their visions of what is going on and still ongoing. 17 Sacramento Artists exhibiting their stories during the 2020 Covid-19 Experience (phase I) / 2020 Civil Rights Movement!

Sacramento – “The Land of Many Stories” @ The WXM

“STEM” MURAL PRODUCTION

Working with Sacramento South artist Markos Egure of Wes Kos Images to produce this ProActive content mural of education and cultural heritage recognition. Located on the La Familia Maple Campus which hosts a variety of services for the local surrounding community of South City Farms.

“BRUSH/AEROSOL APPLICATION INTRODUCTION” 

Mural Expressions mural art program, engages in an ‘ARTnership’ with community organizations, schools, municipalities, and  corporations. We assist your group to creatively express your vision in a mural production process.

Additionally, ARTners offers Mural Classes.  Class participants will learn the mural process and how to paint basic line work, shapes and brush strokes.

“PAINT THE PARK”  – Wide Open Walls

@ SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC’S MURPHY PARK (2018, APRIL)

On April 7th, Wide Open Walls coordinated a ‘Paint The Park’ for the Sacramento Republic Soccer Organization. Artists were encouraged to participate in this one day event. Painting their personal  representation of Sacramento and Soccer in Sacramento. All artists were showcased & a winner for the contest was announced at a future game during a halftime presentation. Contest winner, Lin Fei Fei and honorable mention Anthony Padilla.

“Street ART MURAL Jam” – Wide Open Walls 

@ SACRAMENTO BEE PARKING STRUCTURE (2018, NOVEMBER)

ARTners/Mural Expressions coordinated a team of 15 local artist to paint one city block of 16 different mixed interconnected mural art pieces. Application with brush and aerosol to bring their designs to life. This was for 5 days of creative action for the Mural Expressions Program. One of the individual murals, a portrait of Selena Quintanilla was highly adored and caught the attention of Journalist Lilia Luciano, ABC10, the local affiliate. They used this image, with Lilia in the image, as a background for a 1 year long commercial promotion unity connections for our city.

“HUMANITY” – Wide Open Walls 2018

@ THE IMPROV ALLEY (Ist-Jst/7th-8th), SACRAMENTO, CA (2018, AUGUST)

Returning back, as a mural production volunteer, so that we’re part of our cities celebration and to retouch our “HUMANITY” mural production. Connecting back into the city’s energy of creative murals projects everywhere in and near downtown Sacramento. Only a few artists from the original ARTners/Mural Expressions crew were able to return but their spirit always remains.


“HUMANITY” – DOCUMENTARY FILM TRAILER

The initial viewing of where we were going with this mural. Director Joha Harrision was a walk-by artist who took interest in our project. Once in action he took his love of creativity and donated his director services to making this trailer and his movie “HUMANITY and the mural” documentary film public showing  at the Guild Theater.
